Enrollment Day+Farewell Party

Ahhhh. Wow. Amazing day. I didn't sleep well the night before enrollment day, because i was really nervous and i kept waking up every hour. My tummy had butterflies.

I know i only joined a year after the rest, during form 2 instead of form 1. At the start of last year, what i really wanted was to catch up. Maybe, i felt, if i was in Usaha like Neekee and the rest of the gang i would feel like i belonged more. But then, i was still a recruit, no position, while all of them had at least a position, if they weren't in usaha yet. So yeah, that was my main goal when i first joined scouts.

A year went by, and i got the position of APL. For me,the greatest difference between a normal scout member and a PL/APL wasn't much, in terms of knowledge. I pondered it a lot, and in the end, this was my opinion-

PL/APL camp is meant to guide the upcoming patrol leaders and assistant patrol leaders leadership skills (according to the leaflet), but we only learn basic things to know in an emergency, fire starting, basic first aid etc. So what i feel defines someone to act as a PL/APL is all those pep talks the council members and seniors constantly give. About how we should set an example and we were chosen and everything. Perhaps that is what really motivates us to actually try to be the best we can in leading our patrol.

But then this year, as an APL, i got to ponder over it more. Scouts isn't just about badges and positions and discipline. Scouts is a big family where everyone actually cares for each other, regardless of ethnic or post or age. In scouts, everyone is noticed, even if they are quiet. Usually, if you're quiet, people will just ignore you. But not in scouts. If you're quiet, people will run to your side and drag you along with them to join in, and sooner or later, you'll change. You wont be as subdued as you were, because you know people are interested in hearing your views about something, and that you actually matter. =)

ENROLLMENT DAY
Surprised that enrollment day this year was at the assembly grounds instead of the hall, and very worried i might faint from the heat. After the slight drizzle at the start of enrollment day, the sky went bright and not sunny, perfect weather to stand for nearly 4 hours in.

Got my Usaha badge! And then the shocker. Most disciplined form 3 went to....me.  Wow. Couldn't believe it. Was really happy by the stuff the council said though. =)

Congratulations to :
JingJade(TL Muda 2011/2012),
DingXue( ATL Muda 2011/2012) and
QiuXuen(Secretary Muda 2011/2012)!

And 3 of my members got posts as well! Kenyalang Alpha 2010/2011! Good luck! You guys will rock! =D

Neekee got the post of PL for Tun Fatimah, though she originally was just aiming for APL, because she wanted to see the troop not through a leader's view. Cassandra and YiXuan got QM. And the other shocker- I got APL. I know i wrote that i wanted it in the resume, but i thought i missed my chance when i couldn't attend the interview and they didn't ask again, but apparently not. =) TUN PERAK! With Bryan and GuoHui as my PL and QM, respectively.

"You can actually be a really good leader"
"You have low self esteem, you just need to speak up more"
"Try to hang around other people more, not just Neekee and YiXuan so much. After all, thats what scouts is for"
"Believe in yourself more"
"Just do what you did during CFN preparation"
"I hope to see a more outgoing person next year"

Then they hugged me. =') Awww. If you guys can read this, thanks for the support you guys are giving me! I'll definitely try to get more quiet people (like me!) involved next year. =)

farewell party
Later was farewell party. If there are any pics, they should be on Facebook. I didnt check yet. =) Me, Neek, Cass, Yijun, HuanGie and Jenny were supposed to be at the park waiting for the form 5s to arrive so we could stall them, but it started raining so me, Neekee and YiJun were left waiting for the form 5s to show up so we could direct them to the house. We waited for a long time and if any cars bearing form 5's did pass by the park, they just drove past us. Finally, we called HuanGie and it turned out everyone was already there. So we walked back in the rain. ._.

We didnt really get dinner because it all went to the seniors and the juniors, so we just had some sausages and a sandwich. But its alright. =) There was this video of the form 3s speaking their thoughts of the form 5s. Who is your favourite council? (KahSeng. Because he's nice and helpful) Who is your favourite Form 5? (SzeZhen. Because he gave me candy. Also because he's my Tom) Both my answers provoked loud rounds of "OOOOOO"s. So they didn't hear my answers to why i liked them. =O

Anyway, the photo session was great.

P.S: David Cook's The Time of My Life chorus suits this blog post.
Thatsallbye.
